01 : Kite Making Part 3

Everyone of us busy to make our own kite.

This pretty girl named Atiqah.
She even thinning the bamboo by herself because
the skeletons prepared for us is not enough.

Everyone started to stick their kite's frame to their chosen color paper. The kite was done after finish " dressing" it up.

Since everyone have done their own kite, we gonna have a try of it! The villagers call two lorries come and fetch all of us to the beach to fly our kite. What? two LORRIES? Yes! two lorries fetch us to the beach! A very nice experience and memory! It was just so nice to sit at the back of the lorry with the wind blow on your face and beautiful paddy field landscape by the side and some more the sunset on the sky ! It's was just too nice!

It's seem like lecturer gonna sell them off?
Around us is all the greenish things and make the
air and our mind very fresh.
The sunset is so enchanting and yet it is view
from the back of the lorry.

## Extra of the day :

Can you see that there are cane inside? Suddenly have cane pass around within us while we waiting for the kite making. Some of us try to bite it but can't get to eat I think?

01 : Kite Making Part 2

My kite in process ! =)

While most of us are focusing on the big kite making process, there are another tutor teaching the making of the normal small kite behind. And very lucky, I just stand there and he gave me the kite that he have made. I no even need to stick the colour paper with the frame. Although it's just a very simple kite, but can get a ready-handmade kite make me very happy also.

Tutor glue the transparent color paper
together with the kite's frame .

Then, use another color to make the tail and
wings of the kite. It's just stick on the kite body.

My kite is fully done !

Me and my long tail kite. ;)

I have my kite while everyone just about to start to make their own kite. Very lucky indeed! But then I was nothing to do and too boring for waiting there. So, since the kite is too plain, I added something on it. I got only a black pen with me so... my kite turn up like this.

# MAD @ Tanjung Karang !

The villagers there are all very warm and enthusiastic.
There are lots of cute kids wondering what we are doing and come across and play with us.

This two sisters are very adorable. The elder sister is very funny. She was shy at first when I talk to her and wanna take photo with her. She didn't smile at all at first, but then I told her, " Why you don't smile? You look more pretty and cute when you smile". She still very shy and keep her moody face, but then when the shutter is about to shoot, she sudden smile. So cute! Tanjung Karang is really a simple place with no children pollution. The kids there is so pure and simple that can rarely found in the city. They are just so blessed.

There are refreshment prepared for us too. The traditional Malay snacks and drinks also.

I don't know what they are called but they are delicious.
It is made from banana and glutinous rice and
being wrap with the banana leaf.
And this one! The plum flavor ice-cream
which I don't know who bought for us.
I am very happy to found this at
Tanjung Karang. It is my childhood favourite!

01 : Kite Making Part 1

Tanjung Karang is mainly covered by the huge paddy field and so the weather there is either very hot or very windy. It is very suitable for flying a kite. And this have make the kite making activity become a must for all the visitors.

The skeleton or the frame of the kite is made from bamboo. Our main tutor cutting down the big bamboo into several smaller part so that it can be thinning easier later.

Our main tutor still cutting the big bamboo
 by his barong knife.

First, for making a good and durable kite, the skeletons is very important. The skeletons of the kite control the flying and lifespan of the kite just as human. It must be chosen carefully even before the thinning process start. A kite consists of two skeleton, the back bone and the wing. Both have to be measure well and must be equal length. The length of these two skeleton is measure from the center. The center part of two bamboo segments need to be align to the center part.

Tutor still choosing the suitable skeleton for the kite.

Then, the chosen skeleton need to be thinning down until it become as small as the twig. The difficult part is that both of the skeleton need to be thinning into equal size and both must be balance.

Thinning down the bamboo until both of the skeleton
 are equal and balance.
Everyone is listen and observe carefully to learn about
how to make the kite.
You see how thin the bamboo need to be thinned.
Keep thinning and thinning.
The skeletons of kite is measure by curving both skeletons together. It is a very special measure way that I never know - measure in curve. When both of the backbone and wing skeleton are curved together, if it is unbalance, the one which are no so curvy are chosen for thinning again. It is because it is stronger and not so elastic, that's why the circumference of it is not so curvy. The most perfect skeletons is that both of the backbone and wing can be thinned until totally balance. Even if one of the skeleton is invert, but they still can produce the same curve.

Our tutor is very particular to the size and shape of the skeleton of the kite. He say that, if the skeleton of the kite is just simply thinning down with not balancing, the shape and alignment of the kite cannot only persist up to 3 days. But, if the skeletons are made well and measure well, it could be last for 3 months or more than that.

He measure it by curving both skeleton together.

Finally, the thinning process done and it can be
jointed by  thread and form the shape of kite.
The skeleton of the kite is finally done and
the frame is also shaped well.

There goes the lucky person who get the
frame of the kite from our tutor.
You see how happy he is !
